2025 Program Information
The UH Mānoa Center on Disability Studies offers physical activity programs for those with disabilities. Programs run several times a year.

Participate in Wellness Programs Tailored to the Disability Community
Offered by Kelle L. Murphy, D.P.E., CAPE, Center on Disability Studies
Physical Activity Program
Open to individuals with I/DD ages 14-adult, family members, and caregivers. Parents/guardians, or coaches please attend if adult child needs assistance.
Classes offered:
- Adapted physical activities, Paralympic activities, and popular sports
- Once a week for 8 weeks for 1 hour in evenings
- Small class sizes of 10 for maximum participation and skill development
- Fall and Spring; Yoga Studio 3 Lower Campus, UHM; $125/child
Swim Safe: ASD Program
Open to individuals with ASD ages 4-adult. Parents/guardians and/or family member serve as the instructor.
Classes offered:
- Learn basic swimming skills and safety skills
- Once a week for 10 weeks, 30-min lessons; 5 families per lesson
- Two locations: University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and Salvation Army Kroc Center, Kapolei;
- $100 per child

Sessions offered throughout the year
Inclusive First Aid/CPR/AED
Open to adults with I/DD, family members, and caregivers. Parents, guardians, coaches please attend if child needs assistance.
Classes are offered each semester in events 2 days a week:
- Modifications for various disabilities. Culturally relevant curriculum.
- First class: First Aid 5-8 PM; Second class: CPR/AED 5-8 PM
- Must attend both classes for American Heart Association certification
- Location: Center on Disability Studies Library, UHM
- Cost: $17.80 per person; 6 participants
